How do neonatologists approach early treatment decisions at the extremes of prematurity?

Abstract 

The decision to offer intensive care to a baby born at an extremely low gestational age is always difficult. The process demands equal involvement of the obstetrician, the neonatologist and the parents. In the light of the recently published Nuffield Council recommendations, this review re-states the importance of incorporating parental choice with the correct interpretation of neonatal outcome data and the current legal and ethical framework.
