Abstract 

The shift to extended matching questions means that some people setting or sitting college examinations will be faced with an unfamiliar assessment method. This article briefly outlines the process of examination construction, the advantages and disadvantages of extended matching questions and an approach to such questions when writing and answering examination papers.
